
La Palma del Condado is a Spanish municipality, new member of WHO Global Network of Age-friendly Cities and Communities and active member of the Covenant of Mayors, the world’s largest movement for local climate and energy actions. We are located in the Andalucía region, close to European Atlantic coast and among big Spanish cities of Sevilla and Huelva and situated in the perimeter area of National Park of Doñana. Also we have signed the Multilevel Governance European Chart as part of our commitment with local participation and constant feedback with EU bodies, policies and programs.
Municipality of La Palma del Condado pursues the following objectives:
- to strengthen the local government organization for better and effective implementation of plans, policies, programs and projects
- to upgrade capabilities of municipal workers, trainers and entrepreneurs in planning and implementation of programs and projects
- to intensify coordination among municipal, national agencies, non-government organization and private sectors.
La Palma del Condado municipality is strongly involved in supporting community development and with local associations and entrepreneurs involved in environmental issues and, specially in urban regeneration, sustainable food production and green tourism linked with nature protection. With this purpose, there is a range of programs to support entrepreneurs and entrepreneurships with base in local resources in terms of environment and cultural heritage preservation, tourism, production and commercialization of ecological food, etc.
